Building Moisture Inspection and Remediation

We are trained and have the requisite expertise in mold removal and practice the safest and most effective methods of remediation.

Mold is a type of fungus which is present in both indoor and outdoor environments growing vociferously in damp or poorly ventilated conditions. Mold requires moisture to grow, as well as a food source, warm temperature and oxygen, which is why it is especially common in bathrooms. It produces microscopic particles that are dissipated in the air and can be inhaled by humans, making them to fall sick.

The common places where mold can develop include bathrooms, wallpaper, carpets, tiles and ceilings. It grows within insulation materials and wooden structures as well.

Signs that you might have mold growth include:

  • Water stains or appearance of discoloration on walls, floors or ceilings in your house.
  • Abnormalities on the surfaces such as peeling or bubbling paint/wallpaper is a sign of dampness and mold growth.
  • A musty smell is a strong indicator of mold.

Inspection and Testing –

Our professional skilled technicians will diagnose the cause of the mold through a visual inspection. Further they make use of humidity and moisture meters.

Clients will receive a detailed report of findings and diagnosis, together with recommendations and preventative actions to tackle the problems and remove their root causes.

Correction

To begin the mould removal process, moisture needs to be arrested in all areas that they are present like sub floor water seepage, leaking pipes, roof leaks or ceiling leaks.

Removal

After this a procedure called ‘fogging’ is conducted using nontoxic and non-corrosive chemical. This chemical is sprayed throughout the indoor environment and kills the molds from their source, killing even airborne spores.

HEPA vacuums are then utilized to remove spores that stubbornly sit on walls, ceilings, doors, door frames, windows, soft furnishings, floors and carpets. The air scrubbers meanwhile capture any dislodged airborne mold spores and bacteria. Dead mold spores can be as toxic as living spores and can be a potential source of nutrition for the living spores.

The Dry Out

The technicians will then dry out the areas to remove the remaining traces of moisture. Our experts will use air movers and dehumidifiers to dry out the building and ensure that the affected areas are completely dried out to arrest the growth of mold.

Prevention

To ensure that the mould removal is permanent, which can only be achieved if the original root cause has been removed, a number of preventive measures are taken:

  • Dampness removal treatment
  • Draining improvements
  • Fixing of water leaks
  • Improving overall ventilation and airflow
  • Cutting trees back and away from the home
